Make it Relevant

How do you know when the "good part" will come? How will you realize that the important part of the class that you paid to attend is about to be discussed? Active listening and key trigger words help focus and alert the audience to valuable content related to their job responsibilities. A good trainer will verbally outline the training objectives, the expected skills to be attained and will attempt to relate relevant content to the audience.

We Must Do… and Take Action

Having obtained the certificate of completion for the mandatory training enterprise wide, the participants returned to their normal workplace and assigned responsibilities. There is an assumption that learning has been completed and the appropriate job actions will be taken. Is that always true? Does attendance in workplace training ensure that the new skills will be utilized (if at all) effectively? What if the participation was reluctant? Did learning take place?
